Sounds a hell of a lot more interesting than the other movies in the series. I only saw the fourth one recently and it was a borefest.
I couldn’t even finish the fourth one, it was that tedious! 
I had the “pleasure” of the Chinese version. China specific product placement and Chinese cameos made it even longer.
I didn’t know there was a Chinese version. Seeing that China contributed a lot to the overall gross of some of the previous movies in the franchise, it makes sense that the studios would want to cater to them as much as possible.
So who were the cameos? Anybody popular?
One of them is a singer I’ve never heard of. The guy in a convertable with a guitar. The car starts to float up I recall. In the normal version he is only seen briefly. In the Chinese version he is playing a song that actually goes on for a little while, long enough for me to think it odd and look it up online. There’s lots of other Chinese people throughout, I’m not sure if any of the others got extended or additional scenes.
My wife pointed out to me that the guy in the lift is a Chinese Olympic Gymnast:

I know there were additional scenes filmed for the Chinese release of Iron Man 3. I saw it iin England so I didn’t see that version. My wife saw it though and said that the extra stuff stood out as not really belonging with the rest of the movie.
Thanks for that info! Very interesting. It means that the plan to release a Chinese version of a movie are made even before shooting begins, thus they include all these scenes.
At this point nothing would surprise me with Michael Bay’s Transformers movies.
i will watch it none the less . hope its better than T4 has it bored me half to death .
Transformers 3 was the first bluray I ever seen. I watched 4 an it seemed a real mess, I didn’t pay to much attention to it. I should re-watch it again sometime. Hopefully five is better and they have learned from all the previous mistakes LOL.
I don’t think “learning from previous mistakes” is a phrase that Michael Bay is familiar with.
The first three movies weren’t masterpieces by any shot of the imagination, but they were watchable, mainly because of the recurring cast whom we had grown fond of (kinda). Then came part 4, which despite being a continuation, featured pretty much all new characters, none of whom are really likeable.
I agree adding more new characters was a really odd choice. I can’t recall exactly but I believe more arrived from Cybertron but I cannot recall how Prime ended up in Mark Wahlberg’s garage…
as the most successful of the 80’s toy cartoons, I hope we get not only part 6 to round out the second trilogy, but a third trilogy series set in the not to distant future.
I am a Transformers fan but the movies are quite crap. I would like the movies rebooted with a better director and writers. Or at least one movie that pretty much focussed on the ‘‘stars’’ of the movie the Transformers instead of the human characters. And for the various Transformers to have personalities and at least be somewhat reminiscent of their G1 forms as opposed to a G1 character name just randomly assigned to some random robot.
This movie sounds like it will be just as wall banging as the other ones.

I guess demolishing the great pyramids of Giza wasn’t fulfilling enough.
In a Michael Bay directed MOTU movie he would probably blow up Castle Greyskull.
